PhotobookGuide.com is born!

Rob's new project coincides with the growing interest in photographic books.

In his words: "PhotobookGuide.com reviews photo books, particularly the landmark books, but also important new books and more obscure titles. There is little information on the web that covers the history of photo books, at least that isn’t directly intended to sell that books that it may discuss. This is curious as there are vast oceans of people devouring photography on the net. Just look at flickr.com. The critical success of Andrew Roth’s Book of 101 Books, The: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century, and then the commercial success of Parr and Badger’s The Photobook begged the question why no one has tried a similar exercise on the web. The thriving market for photobooks - some of these books sell for many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on ebay - and the success of the PhotoEye bookshop is proof that people are interested.

"And so PhotobookGuide.com is my modest start at putting some of this information online. There are studies of six books there now, with plenty of great photography to look at. What I may lack in authority is hopefully offset by the passion I have for these books. There is so much incredible photography sitting on bookshelves that the web mostly ignores. I’m planning to share some of these amazing books with you, I hope you will visit as I add reviews."

If you're interested, why not visit Photobook Guide?
