Finsbury Park, London

with one comment

finsbury.jpg
Just before we did the Parkland Walk, I decided to take a photo of this home in Finsbury Park, London. A rare glimpse of sunlight and blue skies on an April afternoon, indeed!

The walk goes along a disused railway which has been overtaken by nature. It is rather wild. You can see some more photos at NYCLondon.com.

Housekeeping stuff: All my previous blog entries allow you to click on the image and open it in a new window. This was rather pointless because the images on the blog are exactly the same size as the pop-ups, so from now on I’ll just be embedding the pictures within the blog entries themselves.

Hyde Park Snow

with one comment

hyde park snow, london

Bit of an old photo this week, taken in December 2000. It was the first time I’d ever seen a proper snowfall! And it was all gone by 11AM. I rushed outside with my camera at 6AM and took lots of photos. I also remember calling up my friend Melinda (in the same boat as me), waking her up and telling her to look outside. She screamed.

Mute Swans, Regent’s Park

without comments

Some mute swans and other ducks in the snow earlier this year at Regent’s Park one morning. Normally in the summer this is where we go rowing! I posted this photo today because we’ve just bought Bjork’s DVD documentary, Inside Bjork for 9.99 pounds on Amazon.co.uk and she’s into swans. It’s an excellent documentary. I also got Miniscule for the same price, but we haven’t watched that yet! If you didn’t know, the Queen has a prerogative over all swans in England and Wales and any unmarked swan on the Thames belongs to her. Swans are cool – seeing as there are no ibises like I was used to in Sydney’s Royal Botanical Gardens, I make do with the swans.

A flower at home

with 4 comments

Can anyone please tell me the name of this plant? It used to be my friend Domenica’s (who lived with me), but she gave it up for dead when she moved into a new flat. It sprouted two flowers over summer and has grown a heap of new leaves for winter!

We went to Manna Veg vegetarian restaurant in Primrose Hill for Sunday brunch today, and it was excellent!
